Preview: New Scales Tattoo

I'm super excited about this scale tattoo and hoping some people feel like sharing any avs they create from them. Keep watching, I might have a way for the first few buyers to get free tattoos.

The scales come in three styles. If you have a viewer 2 or later, you can use the 'add' feature to add up to three of any clothing item (such as tattoos) so you can use each style alone, or mixed together for a more filled out look.

Then, per norm, my tattoos will be copy/mod, so you can color/tint them to any special need you might have. Part of my excitement is the wonderful surprise of how adaptable this pattern is. I have others I may release later, with special preview to previous buyers. I plan to include the hex code for the tinted color I used to match the skins below, found on marketplace for 0L at:

Who's ready for this? Oh yeah.

MerScales: Comparison & Preview:Scale Series

I'm working on another scale tattoo. I'm having fun with it, but realized an important question... What color should I make it? So I went to see what color of my mer scales seemed to be enjoyed the most. Answer: White. By a long shot. I assume that this is because of the ability to color tint to specific needs. To investigate this, I did a number of snapshots. I did the tattoo layer white, then tinted undershirt, shirt, jacket and gloves to different colors, saved them, prepared for the shoot and snapped off a number of pictures. I changed the skin color and did another round of shots. Then I added the white tattoo layer as a background with the clothing layers over the top and did another series. And finally I did a series with the original mer scale types.

Black skin. Dark red tint, bright red tint, blue tint and medium purple.
I did wait for them to rez in. Somehow, there is still a lot of detail lost.

Same as above, but with the white tattoo under to boost the difference.

The originals, found on marketplace.

Preview: Techno Sleeves

Veering away from my normal tattoos and styles, I was playing about and created something I personally think of as fun. I'll set it up to marketplace after tweaking to my detail and, well, actually making the textures. May later do another version that continues on the same theme if there shows to be interest.

How to Tint/Color Tutorial

A lot of tattoos that I do are set in white so that you can color/tint them to get exactly what you need. This post is meant to be a visual reference of how to accomplish this in Firestorm and is transferable to other clients as well. Please remember that to color/tint any clothing item, you need a viewer that is at least version 2 and for the item to be 'mod' (modify) in permissions. SL viewer one (and thus some of the clients built off this) do not give the option to tint tattoos though you can use the same method to modify other clothing layers.

Ta-da! If there are any questions or highly different methods for tinting, feel free to leave a comment.
